John J. Lee received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario in 2010 and later obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Calgary in 2016. John has exclusively practiced in family and divorce law since he was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2018. With a steadfast commitment to providing compassionate guidance and skilled advocacy, John has earned a reputation from his clients for excellence in navigating the complexities of family law and divorce matters. His expertise encompasses divorce, child custody/parenting, spousal-partner support, property division, and domestic violence issues (Emergency Protection Orders), allowing him to offer tailored solutions to meet each client’s unique needs. John has successfully represented clients at the Alberta Court of Justice (Provincial Court of Alberta) and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta.

Approaching each case with empathy and understanding, John prioritizes clear communication and collaboration, ensuring that clients are empowered to make informed decisions throughout the legal process. Whether through negotiation, mediation, or litigation, John advocates vigorously for their clients’ best interests; however, always emphasizes to his clients that alternative dispute resolution (mediation / settlement outside of court) should be extensively exhausted before pursuing litigation in court.  As a trusted ally and advocate, John stands ready to guide clients through the complexities of family law with expertise, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

Beyond his legal practice, John is dedicated to giving back to the community through pro bono work and involvement in various initiatives. John has served as a Naval Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces (Royal Canadian Navy) and loves to give back to various initiatives in the City of Calgary, specifically the Mustard Seed. In his spare time, you can find John relaxing at the nearest Nordic Spa or playing basketball and golf.
