Jessica Barbosa

Jessica Barbosa is a J.D. candidate at Ryerson University’s Faculty of Law. She completed her Masters Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice Policy at the University of Guelph.

She volunteered with the Refugee Law Office of Legal Aid Ontario to assist clients with their detention hearings. Jessica published her insights regarding private law reform in the Ontario Private Sector Reform Proposal which was introduced and considered by the Ontario government in October 2020.   Jessica has also participated in two community-based research projects: The 2016-2017 Femicide Report with Ontario Association of Interval and Transition Housing (OAITH) and the 2017-2018 Safety Planning Guideline for Victim Services Guelph-Wellington which provides strategies to help victims of domestic violence.
